Internships

An important feature of the Public History curriculum is the internship program. Through supervised internships, usually conducted over a period of one semester, students learn practical uses of history outside of the university. Internships can be paid or unpaid, depending on need and client requirements.

At the beginning of the semester in which a student begins his/her internship, the student will (1) submit a written description of the proposed internship activities for the duration of the internship; (2) make sure that the internship supervisor submits the "Internship Approval Form;" and (3) the student will submit a schedule of working hours. At the end of the internship, the student will submit the "Final Evaluation Form: Intern" and the internship supervisor will submit the "Final Evaluation Form: Supervisor." The student also will meet with the director of IPH, to discuss completion of the internship.
