Northern Women

The two black women were Dorothy Height, the president of the National Council of Negro Women; Marian Logan, an actress and singer as well as the coordinator of Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and whose husband was a prominent physician on the board of the New York City Urban League.

The white women were Polly Cowan, the chairman of WIMS, who was the wife of the former president of CBS; Jean Benjamin, a white retired schoolteacher who was the wife of the Chairman of United Artists Corporation; and Anne B. McGlinchy, a white, retired schoolteacher active in the civil rights efforts.
