Less than two months after the March on Washington, when on August 28 Martin Luther King had delivered his “I have a Dream” speech, Dorothy Height and the NCNW were invited to Selma, Alabama. Taking three women with her, the team went to witness the appalling ways in which the Selma police were treating young women and children working for equal rights.
